In this website we show you 3 methods to print on wood with high quality. In this post, let try to print on wood with Gel Medium. This method is also easy and brings a very good result.
The gel medium goes on similarly to the poly-acrylic except it’s a gel vs a liquid. You should use a foam brush worked well to distribute the gel because the brushes left too many ridges.
We pressed the paper into the gel then pushed out the air bubbles with the plastic card since the gel was a little thicker and not as easy to move as the poly-acrylic was. Then I set it aside to dry for about one and a half hour.
The only thing different about scrubbing the gel medium is it seemed to grabbed much harder.
I think this is because the gel is thicker and there is more build up on the surface. So thinning the gel with water before application could be a good solution.
After remove all of the paper here is what the wood print looks like. There were a few spots that still had a little paper that I couldn’t get off on the first time removing.
Protect the Wood Prints
After printing on wood we have to protect the printing. We sprayed on two coats of spray lacquer and they actually changed quite a bit.
